Social Forum 2011: Towards Dakar!


The World Social Forum (WSF) is back in Africa in 2011, more precisely in Senegal from 6 to 11 February 2011.

FSM_Dakar-2011 Based on the 10 years experience of the WSF, the Dakar Forum should be an area to strengthen the offensive capability against neoliberal capitalism; deepening struggles and resistance against capitalism, imperialism and oppression; suggest alternatives and popular democratic. In pursuit of these objectives are proposed key strategic thrusts for the WSF 2011 in Dakar. 12 themes were selected, including an axis of movement of persons:

"Axis 4: For freedom of movement and settlement of all and everyone, especially migrants and asylum-seekers, victims of human trafficking, refugees, Indigenous Peoples, originating, indigenous, traditional and native , Minorities, for the respect of their civil, political, economic, social, cultural and environmental."

6th February: On Opening
7th February: Day dedicated to Africa and the Diaspora
8th of February: Activities Auto & co-organized
9th of February: Activities Auto & co-organized
10th of February: Convergences / thematic meetings
11th February: Convergences thematic / global and closure

Preparatory work will take place on Gorée Island (Sénégal) upstream. From 2 to 4 February 2011, will be held a World Migration meeting to amend and adopt the World Charter of Migrants. Around one hundred migrants will participate.
