Campaign for the promotion and the protection of migrants' rights

The association "December18" is launching a campaign to mark the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (ICRMW), December 18, 1990.
December 18 works to promote and protect the rights of migrants worldwide. Its objective is to ensure that fundamental rights of all migrants are known, recognized and effectively protected.

Petition-dec18The Convention constitutes the broadest framework in international law for the protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families and provides guidance to States on how to respect the rights of migrants while developing and implementing labour migration policies.
The Migrant Workers Convention is one of the nine core United Nations human rights instruments.
It has now been ratified by 42 states and a further 16 have signed up and are in the process of ratification.

Yet, to date, no EU Member State has signed or ratified the Convention. Therefore December18 invites people to sign a petition calling for the ratification of the Migrant Workers Convention by Member States of the European Union.
