Meeting " Senegalese Diaspora and Economic Promotion"

logo-cascFor several years, migration is seen as a key actor in the development of origin countries. Money sent by migrants to their families helps to reduce poverty in cities as in rural areas. However, several studies show that billions of euros sent by the diaspora have a very little impact on wealth creation, which remains the only way to get out of poverty.

photo-cascBased on this analysis, on the 9th and 10 December 2011, the CASC (Coordinadora d'Associacions Senegaleses de Catalunya) and the ACISI organized the meeting "Senegalese diaspora and Economic development". This meeting brought together representatives of several organizations of Senegalese migrants living in Spain in order to think to ways to invest migrants' remittances in productive activities in Senegal.
